Strawberry Scones recipe that's made from my homemade chocolate chip scone recipe. A simple breakfast recipe made with fresh strawberries.

    Let's make Strawberry Scones

Strawberry Scones have become of my favorite breakfast recipes to make right now. You would think working with a dough can be hard but this recipe is very simple and only takes 22 minutes to make. I added a fresh powdered sugar glaze on top to give my scones some extra sweetness. The one thing I love about this recipe is using fresh fruit. I had some fruit I needed to get rid of and the strawberries were the perfect add on to this recipe.

    Mixing up the ingredients

In a medium sized bowl you need to add the flour ingredients which I will put in the recipe card below. Followed by the heavy cream and egg mixture. I used my wooden spoon to make sure everything was slightly blended together then I added by fresh strawberries. Since I'm using fresh fruit I had to mix everything together gently then use my hands to form a ball with the dough. The dough will need to be flattened before you cut them into individual pieces.

The bake time on this recipe is short and week. 22 minutes at 400 degrees. You don't need anymore time then that for a baking time.

    Tips:

    1. Lightly coat your strawberries in flour if you're afraid that they mixing them in the dough might cause them to break. Sometimes lightly flouring your fruits in recipes like this helps them mix into the dough better. I didn't this with my blueberry scone recipe too.
    2. You can swap the flour out with gluten-free flour that's 1:1. It has to be 1:1 flour so you don't need to change up the measurements.

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups All-purpose flour
    • 3 tablespoon Granulated sugar
    • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
    • Pinch of salt
    • 4 tablespoon Cold butter cut
    • ¾ cup Heavy cream
    • 1 Egg
    • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
    • 1 cup Fresh strawberries chopped

    Instructions

    • Preheat oven to 400 degrees and line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • In a bowl, add your flour, sugar, baking powder, and pinch of salt. Whisk all of these ingredients together until they're fully blended.
    • Cut your butter up into pieces and add it into the flour. I used my pastry blender to make sure the butter was fully incorporated into the flour.
    • In a measuring cup or a small bowl, add the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract. Whisk up this mixture too and add it to your flour.
    • Add in the fresh strawberries. Use a wooden spoon to mix this all together and form a ball with the dough. Really work it between your hands to make a ball then flatten it into a 8 inch disc.
    • Cut the dough into six pieces and top with sugar. Bake for 22 minutes until the scones are golden brown.
    • Enjoy the scones nice and hot!

    Notes

Use 1tbs of flour to coat the fresh fruit so the strawberries don't break when you mix the dough together.
