The best buttery Homemade Chocolate Chip Scones!

    Mixing the dough
    Mixing the dough

I recently made these delicious chocolate chip scones and I always forget how easy they are to make. Even if you're not a baker, scones are so easy to whip together. You can also use your hands to mix the dough together. Nothing fancy is required when it comes to this recipe. I'm all about simple and easy and that's just what these scones are. First thing you need to do with this recipe is mix up the dry ingredients and the wet ingredients like my photos above. I will go into detail in the recipe instructions below. I like to use my wooden spoon to mix my ingredients.

You need to use cold ingredients in this recipe

Forming a disc with the dough to prepare the scones
Cutting the scones to prepare for cooking

Cold ingredients need to be used in this recipe. Cold butter, cold heavy cream. I used a wire pastry blender to get my butter to mix into the flour properly followed by the wet mixture. Next I added the chocolate chips and then I followed this up by shaping the dough into a disc. If you're having trouble shaping the dough into a ball just keep trying to work it between your hands. I also used my measuring tape to make sure the disc of dough measured 8 inches horizontally. Cut the disc of dough and sprinkle each piece with some granulated sugar.

The scones should come out golden brown! I ate one of the scones fresh out of the oven and you can also brush some butter on top so it soaks right into the scone. If you're making this recipe for yourself, you'll have breakfast for the week you can take on-the-go! If you're sharing with family and friends, cut them in half so you can share.

Enjoy this recipe and leave me a comment and rating if you try it!

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups All-purpose flour
    • 3 tbs Granulated sugar
    • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
    • Pinch of salt
    • 4 tablespoon cold butter cut
    • ¾ cup Heavy cream
    • 1 Egg
    • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
    • 1 cup Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips

    Instructions

    • Preheat oven to 400 degrees and line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • In a bowl, add your flour, sugar, baking powder, and pinch of salt. Whisk all of these ingredients together until they're fully blended.
    • Cut your butter up into pieces and add it into the flour. I used my pastry blender to make sure the butter was fully incorporated into the flour.
    • In a measuring cup or a small bowl, add the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract. Whisk up this mixture too and add it to your flour.
    • Add in the chocolate chips. Use a wooden spoon to mix this all together and form a ball with the dough. Really work it between your hands to make a ball then flatten it into a 8 inch disc.
    • Cut the dough into six pieces and top with sugar. Bake for 22 minutes until the scones are golden brown.
    • Enjoy the scones nice and hot!
