The best Chocolate Chunk Cookies!
Want to make Chocolate Chunk Cookies? I made an easy recipe and yes it's really easy. Who doesn't love chocolate chip cookies? It's a classic recipe filled with chocolate chips and a chopped up chocolate baking bar. The extra chocolate took this cookie to the next level. It took me three tries to get this cookie exactly how I wanted. I wanted a flat cookie with a slide crisp on the edges and a chewy center.

Using a chocolate baking bar
I used a semi-sweet Ghirardelli Chocolate Baking Bar and chopped it up and set those chunks in a bowl with some chocolate chips. The key with the chunks and chips is to slowly fold them into the cookie dough after you're done mixing. I used my hand mixer for this recipe since the dough was so light. When the dough is thicker I use my stand mixer. If you aren't a fan of a chocolate baking bar you can skip that and just use a ton of chocolate chips. The goal is to make this cookie recipe extra chocolatey.
Short bake time
The short bake time really helps with how the cookies turn out along with less flour. There are a lot of factors that go into the shape of cookies ranging from how much butter you use to the amount of flour you use. This recipe has an even amount of ingredients which helps the cookies spread when they're baking.
Chocolate chip cookies is an easy recipe to try if you're diving into baking. It's easy and there's so much opportunity to master this recipe.

Chocolate Chunk Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 ⅓ cup All-purpose flour
- ½ cup Unsalted butter (melted and cooled)
- ¾ cup Light brown sugar (loosley packed)
- ½ cup Granulated sugar
- 1 Large egg
- ½ teaspoon Vanilla extract or vanilla paste
- ½ teaspoon Baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 1 Chocolate bar chopped up into chunks + 1 cup of mini chocolate chips
- Optional: Flakey sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter on the stovetop and let cool. In your stand mixer, mix the butter and sugars on low speed. Slowly add in your egg and vanilla extract.
- On the side in a medium-sized bowl. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together and slowly add this flour mixture to the butter and sugar mix. I added the flour mixture ½ cup at a time. Scrape down the bowl to get the extra flour on the side properly mixed.
- Take the bowl off the stand mixer and fold in the chocolate chips. Scoop the cookie dough and place the cookies 1 inch apart on your baking sheet.
- Bake for 11-13 minutes (check at the 11 minute mark) and take the cookies out of the oven when they're done. Cool on your baking sheet for 5 minutes and enjoy the cookies nice and warm.
