These Copycat Levain Chocolate Chip Cookies are HUGE. You might be full after half of a cookie but it's a delicious cookie recipe you'll want to keep biting into.
When Levain opened in Boston the lines were out the door. This popular cookie restaurant has a signature cookie that's packed with chocolate chips and it's massive. The cookies are a little pricey so I wouldn't suggest going everyday but it's fun for a little sweet treat when you visit the city. You know I'm all for saving money and making desserts at home so I decided to try this recipe. After a deep dive on Reddit, I saw that the ingredients were all the same throughout. The basic cookie ingredients such as
- Flour
- Baking Soda
- Light Brown Sugar
- Granulated Sugar
- Butter
- Vanilla Extract
- Salt
- Chocolate Chips

Tips:
There are a few things with this recipe that is necessary. You need a stand mixer for the dough. it's thick and a hand mixer won't work for this recipe. Next is that with traditional cookie recipe you can use your cookie scoop but for this recipe you can shape this dough by hand and make it look a little rough. It doesn't need to be a perfect ball shape. The imperfect shape gives these cookies the Levain cookie style.
Bake time:
I baked these Copycat Levain Chocolate Chip Cookies at 375 for 15 minutes. You can adjust the bake time depending on how hot your oven gets or if you want your cookies slightly underbaked. 15 minutes was the perfect amount of time for these cookies. The inside is soft and the outside is a little bit crispy. My type of cookie!

- Mixing bowls
- Baking Spatula
Ingredients
- 3 cups All purpose flour (I used store brand flour)
- ¼ teaspoon Baking soda
- 1 ½ teaspoon Baking salt (fine kosher salt)
- 1 cup Unsalted butter cold and cut into cubes (2 sticks)
- ¾ cup 2 teaspoons light brown sugar
- ½ cup Granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- ½ teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 2 cups Regular sized chocolate chips and 1 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375
- In a small bowl add the flour, baking soda, salt. Whisk and set aside.
- Cut up 2 sticks of cold butter and add it to your stand mixer with the sugars. Mix on a low speed until soft and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time followed by the vanilla extract.
- Slowly add the flour mixture to the butter and sugar mix. Scrape down the bowl between mixes.
- Once everything is blended fold in the chocolate chips. Scoop out 9 individual cookies and bake for 15 minutes. I used my hand to scoop out the cookies. Using your hand is best. Once the cookies are done baking let them cool on you baking sheet for 5 minutes. Enjoy nice and warm.
