    Now, homemade meatballs can take a little bit to make but they're definitely worth it if you want to level up your pasta dish. I really wanted a classic pasta dish but I didn't want frozen meatballs. I had some ground beef so I said to myself, why not! This recipe is really easy which is what everyone wants when it comes to a homemade meatball recipe. Have you ever wondered how to make homemade meatballs?     Why do you need eggs and breadcrumbs?

    The two key ingredients in homemade meatballs are eggs and breadcrumbs. Why does this recipe contain these ingredients. It helps bind together the ingredients and adds more texture to the meat. Without eggs and breadcrumbs, the meat won't hold together when cooking. If you want to replace the egg, you can use ground flaxseed and for the breadcrumbs you can use oatmeal or gluten-free crackers.

    Yes!! You can use any type of meat but ground beef contains different amounts of fat and moisture so it cooks differently. Ground turkey would be DELICIOUS! The cook time would have to decrease but it would be amazing. If you use ground turkey for this recipe, follow the same instructions to make the meatballs. And feel free to add additional seasonings for a unique flavor.

    Also you can make these meatballs without breadcrumbs and eggs if you want. You just need to find a binding ingredient you can use to hold it together. For the egg you can use ground flax or chia seeds. Extra firm tofu is also a good swap!

    Ingredients
      

    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1 egg
    • ¼ cup Italian bread crumbs
    • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
    • 1 teaspoon pepper
    • 1 teaspoon oregano
    • 1 teaspoon Paprika
    • ½ chopped onion

    Instructions
     

    • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
    • Mix everything above in the ingredients list together.
    • Scoop the beef mixture into your hands in little balls and place them 1 inch apart.
    • Cook for 25 minutes, cut one open and see if it's ready. Serve HOT and enjoy!
