Homemade Margherita Pizza
It's pizza night! And if you're like me, I'm always in the mood for pizza and I love making my pizza in different ways. For this Homemade Margherita Pizza recipe, I switched it up and added some fun ingredients to the topping and it was sweet and delicious. The brand Tuttorosso is sweet and savory and the small addition of sugar to the pizza sauce made this already delicious pizza even better.
A Margherita Pizza is a classic recipe and the chunks of mozzarella melts so well on the crust. Who says you need to use mozzarella? If you want to make some fun swaps head to the dairy section and pick out some other cheese you can use. Now, when it comes down to the crust, you can use a pre-made crust or raw dough you can pick up at the supermarket.
I use dough you have to roll and stretch out and it crisped up perfectly in the oven. I'm also a fan of cauliflower crust. It's SO good! The flavor is incredible, I think everyone should try it at least once. I was skeptical at first and after the first time
My local supermarket has a plain dough and a garlic and herb one, the garlic and herb one was SO good. Follow the steps below to make this pizza recipe for yourself sometime. Leave me a comment or head to my Instagram and let me know if you make it!
Tips:
- Make sure you stretch and roll out the dough properly so it can cook evenly. This should only take a few minutes.
- I liked using fresh garlic for the topping, it enhances the flavor.

Next, add the can of Tuttorosso® San Marzano Style Hand Crushed Tomatoes in Puree with Basil & Sea Saltto a pan along with sugar, salt and pepper, and let simmer. Once it thickens, take the sauce off the stove and let it cool before you add it to the pizza dough.
- Preheat oven to 450-500 degrees.
- Spread the sauce on the dough and place mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce.
- You can either add the basil leaves before cooking or after. I like to add the basil leaves before so it cooks into the sauce. SO good!
