Doesn't get any better!
Apple pie is my all time favorite dessert during the fall and even though it's springtime here, nothing beats fall recipes. Apple pie is an all time favorite! I saw this fun recipe on Pinterest and I knew I needed to try this. Cinnamon rolls as a crust, that's insane right? Let me introduce my cinnamon roll apple pie! Lucky for you, all of these ingredients can be found at the grocery story. I used pre-made apple pie filling but you can make your own apple pie filling. I also bought Pillsbury cinnamon rolls they're my favorite. You can also take it to the next level and make a unique crumble topping.
Optional Crumb topping
- Unsalted Butter: Soften the butter to room temperature before you add it to the other ingredients.
- Flour: Again, just use whichever all-purpose flour you prefer.
- Light-Brown Sugar: Make sure you use light-brown sugar. The Apple Pie is rich enough without adding dark brown sugar (which has more molasses than its lighter counterpart).
- Sugar: White sugar will sweeten it a bit more. I recommend using coarse sugar.
Now, this recipe is packed with sugar so you can always swap out the type of cinnamon rolls you use. Annie's has a low-sugar option and you can also make your own homemade cinnamon rolls so you can control the ingredients you use. How would you change up this recipe? I would love to know the type of ingredients you would use and what swaps you would make. Let me know in the comments if you make the recipe. Follow me on Instagram for more inspiration!
