A classic winter sugar cookie recipe

- 1 cup butter (2 sticks) softened
- 1 cup sugar granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 ½ cups all purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Sugar topping:
- ¼ cup granulated sugar to roll the cookie dough in.
Preheat your oven to 350 and prepare your baking sheet with parchment paper. Add ¼ cup of sugar to a small bowl and set aside.
In a medium sized mixing bowl, add the butter and sugar and mix that together with your hand or stand mixer. If you don't have either you can just use a very sturdy spoon.
Add in your egg and vanilla extract until combined. Use your baking spatula or spoon to scrape down the side of the bowl as you’re mixing everything together.
Follow that step up with the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Once this is all mixed together using your cookie scoop get some cookie dough, place it in your hands and roll it into a ball. Dip each cookie into the bowl of sugar. Place the cookie dough on your baking sheet.
Cook for 15 minutes at 350 and enjoy nice and warm. 15 minutes seems to be the sweet spot for these cookies. Perfectly soft with a little crisp on the outside. Delicious
